As the world respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19), it is important to stay up to date with information on the disease, including the impact on our pets. With that in mind, I wanted to share an FAQ published by AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association). Although there have not been reports of pets or other animals becoming sick with COVID-19 several types of coronaviruses can cause illness in animals and spread between animals and people. Until more information becomes available, the CDC recommends avoiding contact with animals if you are potentially ill and wearing a facemask if you must be around animals or care for a pet. Stay safe and always practice basic hygienic precautions such as washing your hands with soap and water before and after contact with our pets.
